About Urbanization

Urbanization Architects (UA), founded by Mark Iddon  BA (Hons) Dip. Arch RIBA, are based in Manchester but undertake project across the country which include domestic, community education and commercial building types.

Clients include both experienced property developers and those who may never have commissioned an architect or contractor for a building project before. They may know exactly what they want to achieve or want to explore the possibilities and options to optimise use potential, consider expenditure or to increase the value of the property. The process of drawing facilitates taking an objective and considered appraisal of the merits or otherwise of a particular alternative and therefore to have confidence in the selected proposal.

Urbanization Architects was established by Mark Iddon in January 2011. Mark had previously been employed as the housing team leader at Urban Vision in Salford where he lead the design, planning, production information for construction of 101 houses on 10 sites across Salford on behalf of Salford City Council. He had previously worked for Pozzoni PLLP (2004 -2008) as project architect for housing developments on behalf of Leonard Cheshire Disability, St. Vincent’s Housing Association and Contour Homes.

After gaining a post graduate in architecture at the University of Brighton (1997), Mark worked for Harrison Ince Architects in Manchester on a series of developments for the alteration conversion and fit outs for restaurant / bars. Many of these buildings were listed and or in a conservation area with former uses as diverse as bank, offices and a railway station. Mark first graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 1993 but had been employed as an architectural technician at Stephenson Architecture prior to pursuing a career as an architect.
